Life with a mobile phone
The mobile phone is quite normal nowadays. Almost everyone has a mobile phone nowadays. I don\’t think any person can do without a mobile phone anymore, and it wouldn\’t be me, nor would I want to have a mobile phone. I really use my mobile phone every day and I couldn\’t be without a mobile phone myself anymore. And that\’s also mainly because I have small children and of course I want my children to be always safe and also if I\’m looking for them somewhere, I will of course call them on my mobile phone. Even my nine and eleven year old already have a mobile phone.
Many people say that it is not healthy for a child, that a cell phone is not healthy for a child\’s development and that a child does not need one at all. I mean, yes, because the child has to play outside with his peers or with other friends, but again, it\’s a great help and a great advantage that when the child has a mobile phone, you can actually catch him easily, provided the child doesn\’t have the sounds turned off. Every time my kids forget to turn on the sounds when they are coming from school, for example, and then I can\’t reach them, I immediately have black scenarios in my head. I think, why don\’t these kids answer my cell phone? Because I know they always have it in their hand after school, probably almost 24/7. They\’re on their cell phones playing games or maybe looking something up all the time.
And that\’s why I think that if the kids have a cell phone and they know how to use it and I know where to go or what to press, it\’s not a big deal. I really don\’t understand why I, for example, or psychologists and psychiatrists say that a mobile phone is not suitable for a child at all. Like why? What\’s so bad about it? I think that a mobile phone is really suitable for everyone, provided that one does not simply spend, say, twenty-four hours a day or even half a day on it. And it is logical that children go to school or kindergarten and people go to work. So then it also turns out that actually those people will not have just a non-stop mobile phone in their hand all the time. And I think that the mobile phone helps us rather than hurts us.
