Teplice nad Bečvu and Hranice
If you are wondering where to go for a weekend day trip, you should definitely visit Hranice, located near beautiful Olomouc. Hranice and its surroundings are sure to delight you.
The biggest attraction is probably the Franice Abyss, the deepest freshwater cave in the world. So far, the depth has been measured at 404 meters, a figure that dates back to 2016. The maximum depth reached by divers is 265 meters.
If you are planning a trip here, the ideal starting point is the train stations of Teplice and Bečvu. If you are traveling by car, the starting point is the parking lot of this train station.
From here, the trail climbs up a slope and passes through a well-kept forest. You will not get lost on the way to the abyss. After less than 10 minutes of quiet walking, you will reach a viewing platform above the abyss. You can go down the same way, and the abyss itself is a 30-minute trip, so if you just want to enjoy the view of the abyss as a regular tourist, there are tours available to the nearby bathhouses.
The Teplice Nad Bečvovo hot spring is located on the right, opposite the train station, and one can walk past the buildings and springs of the hot spring in pleasant surroundings. One can taste the local mineral water, which is high in carbon dioxide, the basic medicinal element of this hot spring.
Another interesting feature in the area are the Zbrašovské aragonite caves. These caves are unique in that they were formed by the action of the atmosphere and warm water. The temperature in the caves is 14 degrees Celsius, making them the warmest caves in the Czech Republic.
The area around Franice and Teplice and Bečvovo is full of natural beauty and charm, and it is fun not only to visit these places, but also, for example, to take a walk along the river or in the center of Franice.
