There is no doubt that encouraging children to play sports is a good thing. Most children have a natural desire to be physically active; they just need to find a sport that suits them. Many children want to be famous athletes when they grow up, often field hockey and soccer players. Children also usually have a sports idol they admire.

This may seem odd, of course. Why would they want to be athletes instead of doctors, businessmen, or just trash collectors? There are several reasons, the first of which is the idea that fame comes with being a professional athlete.

It is understandable that a child would idealize an athlete who has won, say, a world championship or the Olympics. They would think that such glory is definitely worth it and that it must be absolutely wonderful to experience such success. And it is true that virtually all athletes feel great and happy after winning a race.

Then there is also the fact that these people really do win big money. So they imagine that they can play their favorite sport, become famous, and win a lot of money. That is certainly an attractive dream. But it is good to explain that not everything is as great as it seems.

First, we need to talk about hard training hours. Top athletes train as hard as 8 hours a day. Add to that a tailor-made diet that doesn\’t pay much attention to our likes and dislikes.

As far as money is concerned, an athlete\’s career is generally speaking quite short, usually lasting 10-15 years. After that, it often ends, and with it the money. Also, since they started playing sports at an early age and did not have time to attend school, it is now difficult for them to get a job and support themselves. And those are things that most of us, especially children, do not really deserve a few minutes of fame.
